The Instituto de Ciencias de la Construcción Eduardo Torroja (IETcc) is a Spanish Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) centre that is part of the Materials Science and Technology Department. Its primary function is to carry out scientific research and technological development projects in the field of construction, its materials and the services associated with the objectives pursued.
The construction complex was designed in 1953 by Eduardo Torroja and represents a relevant and interesting example of his work. Among the buildings that compose the Institute's complex the impressive dodecahedron silo structure, the circular dining hall, the triangular roofs of the testing buildings and workshop, the pergola and the unique hanging system on the mezzanine floor of the main hall are of particular note.
Since opening, the Institute has organised important international conferences, seminars and symposia.
